Recrystallization (Principle of precipitation)

Lower the temperature to precipitate some of the substances as a solid, then filter them through filter paper.

Recrystallization

Recrystallization is a method of separating and purifying a substance by using the property that the amount of a substance dissolved in water changes depending on temperature.

First, when a solid substance is placed in hot water, a large amount of it dissolves.
At this time, impurities either do not dissolve well or dissolve too well, so they remain separate.

Next, when the solution is cooled slowly, the decrease in temperature makes it impossible for the substance to stay fully dissolved.
As a result, the pure substance precipitates again in the form of crystals.

If these crystals are filtered and dried, a purer substance can be obtained.
