## Boyle's Law

Doubling the pressure of a gas reduces the volume of the gas by 1/2, and increasing the pressure of a gas by three times reduces the volume of the gas by 1/3. In 1662, British scientist Boyle (1627-1691) demonstrated through an experiment that the pressure and volume of a gas are inversely proportional at constant temperature, which is called 'Boyle's Law.'

## How to calculate the inner pressure of the vessel in this experiment

The inner pressure of the vessel in this simulation can be obtained as follows:

\[ P = \frac{Force}{Area} = \frac{9.8m}{A} (N/m^2, Pa) \]

The standard unit for pressure is N/m² or Pa.

At the earth's surface, standard atmospheric pressure (1 atm) always acts on the container. Since 1 atm is approximately 101,325 Pa, the pressure in the vessel in this experiment can be obtained as follows:
