Magnetic Field around a Wire

You can drag the compass.

Magnetic field is the area surrounding a magnet in which the magnetic force exists.
The magnetic field is also formed around the conductor through which the current flows. This is electromagnetism.

The direction of the magnetic field can be determined as follows.
If the right hand clasps the conductor with the thumb pointing in the direction of the current, then the fingers give the direction of the magnetic field around the conductor.
